Hello, I’m Ishmam

হ্যালো, আমি ইশমাম

With over 12 years of experience in the non-profit and philanthropy sector, I specialize in audience-led strategy, mid-level giving, and integrated omnichannel marketing. Currently, I lead the Audience and Donor Strategy team within Mass Markets USA at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a global humanitarian organization that responds to the world’s worst crises and helps refugees and displaced families to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. In this role, I oversee omnichannel marketing and portfolio strategies to engage, retain, and grow key donor segments, including sustainer, bridge, mid-level, and planned giving audiences.

My experience in crisis-responsive organizations like Lambda Legal, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the IRC has deepened my understanding of emergency fundraising and the intentional donor journeys that follow. These experiences have also profoundly shaped my approach, leading me to adopt a community-centric fundraising model.

In this approach, I prioritize fostering a sense of interdependence and shared humanity among donors. Rather than solely focusing on transactions, I aim to build meaningful relationships within the donor community. By emphasizing collaboration and collective action, we not only maximize fundraising efforts but also cultivate a stronger sense of connection and purpose among supporters.

Beyond fundraising, I am a passionate advocate for social justice. As a trans and non-binary Bangladeshi Muslim human being, I am deeply committed to dismantling systems of oppression and creating a more liberated, equitable, and inclusive world.
